Ravi Abuvala is the founder of Scaling With Systems, where he helps digital marketers grow to multiple seven figures through product-market fit, sales funnels, and paid advertising.
So far, Ravi claims he’s made more than $10 million online.
Funny enough, quitting weed was a big catalyst for his success.
In a vulnerable YouTube video, Ravi recalls the first time he ever smoked. It was back in high school, just weeks before graduation, at a house party he was hosting.
Up until that point, he’d never even had a sip of alcohol.
Needless to say, the ole jazz cabbage had him feeling no pain.
Ravi goes on to college, he’s in a fraternity, and smoking weed becomes the norm.
“Honestly, I really enjoyed it, I liked it,” Ravi says.
“It chilled me out, it calmed me down,” he explains. “If I smoked before I went into work or to class, it just made life more exciting. Things and sensations would be more interesting.”
“And for me, it would be exciting because it would make things more difficult. Like, could I get straight As while also being high every day in class?”
Turns out, he could.
After graduating from Florida State, he planned on going to law school.
But his whole world got shook when his dad was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Ravi had to take him to go get chemo and radiation and all that, so he was forced to quit smoking weed cold turkey.
The next couple of weeks sucked. It wasn’t withdrawals so much as it was just missing the habit. Right? When you go out to dinner, you smoke. When you watch a movie, you smoke. Etc., etc.
How could he enjoy these basic activities without it?
Slowly, though, Ravi started seeing the benefits of being sober.
- He had more time on his hands.
- He could focus and function all throughout the day.
- He felt more creative, his brain was able to operate at a higher level.
- His memory sharpened.
- He was less paranoid and, believe it or not, more happy overall.
- He realized he could create joy from inside himself; no chemicals needed.
Anyways, he started studying for the LSAT, his workouts were better, and for the first time in a long time, he began thinking about his future again.
“If you’re considering smoking weed or quitting, the number one thing I can tell you guys is weed made me complacent,” Ravi says.
“Weed made me very very complacent. I never had to grow, never had to get uncomfortable. I could just do the same thing every day and be fine because I was artificially increasing my dopamine levels, or whatever happens when you smoke.”
“So when I broke outta that spell, that stupor, I realized, ‘Is law school even what I wanna do? What else is out there?'”
That’s when Ravi stumbled upon online marketing and advertising, which set him on the completely different path he’s on now.
These days, he’ll have a drink or maybe smoke two or three times a year, max, for really special occasions, but that’s it.
He doesn’t need that stuff anymore.
Life’s better without it. Yes, even at social events.
You’d be surprised how much better you are, socially, when you’re not dumbed down by drugs, Ravi says.
So don’t let that limiting belief keep you from at least trying sobriety out for a while.
For Ravi, the benefits of being clearheaded compounded over time, and his business results, especially, speak for themselves.
$10 milli in under three years? Not too shabby.
But it’s probably the #1 question he gets asked by higher level entrepreneurs: “Should I keep smoking?”
Because they know, deep down, the answer is no. They know it’s holding them back.
So don’t be surprised, if you’re a Scaling With Systems or Remote Integrator member, if Ravi recommends doing 90 days sober.
Chances are, you won’t regret it.
