Ilana Golan helps driven professionals leap in their careers, be it to the top of the corporate ladder or straight into entrepreneurship.
If you feel stuck, if you feel like you can do more, if you want to figure out what your passion is, what your next move should be, that’s what her CareerLeap program is for.
And again, it may be moving up to VP, it might be switching industries, or quitting and launching a startup. Either way, Ilana’s here to help you navigate that.
“And this process is a journey,” she says. “It’s not about helping my clients once or twice, here and there. It’s about, how do you help somebody along that really difficult journey, to make it much more successful, much faster, and make sure that they’re happy?”
“So that’s what I do, and I love it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” she continues.
“I serve about 50% women, 50% men. Most of my clients come from word of mouth. People that’ve seen the phenomenal changes in some of these executives. They’re like, ‘Oh my God, how’d you start a business so fast?’ Or, ‘How did you land this kind of a job so fast?’ And ya know, they referred ’em to us.”
“But there’s a big difference between somebody who’s just talking the talk and somebody’s who’s actually walked the walk. Somebody who’s been roughly where you are now and made it to where you’re trying to go, and they’re willing to help you get there. And I think that’s what sets me apart. I’ve been there. I’ve been stuck in engineering.”
“And I needed to leap to sales. I was stuck in entrepreneurship and I needed to figure out how to get out of it and start making money and leap into investing and public speaking. I needed to make those leaps and jumps.”
“And I think once you realize that it’s possible and somebody can actually take you there, it’s easier to ask for help and get the help you need.”
“But once you realize, ‘Hey, this is how I’m feeling and I wanna be over here [doing this other thing],’ we can help with that. That’s our message.”
And the success you’re longing for doesn’t just have to be about money. It can be, that’s fine. Maybe you just wanna make a few milli and feel proud of yourself. Totally cool.
But it can also be reputation and fame. It can be a new title. It can be personal growth. Being courageous. Betting on yourself. Making an impact. Or just achieving balance. Better health. Making time for loved ones and travel and hobbies, right?
As long as you feel like you’re making a difference and leaving a legacy, it’s all copacetic, compadre.
“I think you need to understand that it’s different things and no career will give you everything,” Ilana points out. “So there’s gonna be some compromise and you’ll need to figure that out and determine what’s right for you at this stage.”
“And it’s gonna change in a year or two, and that’s what’s beautiful about it. Just acknowledging the fact that success means different things for us. And at different times we’re gonna focus on different things in our career. So adjust your expectations to what you’re chasing.”
You have to be realistic. If priority numero uno is making six or seven figures, it may be better to stay with your career for the time being and just try to move up. Right? ‘Cause a new business is gonna take time to get off the ground.
Ilana seems like a nice enough lady. I respect her for being in the Air Force.
Not sure how much her Leap Coaching costs, but it would be a no for me. After sitting through two hours of her interviews, I still have no idea what she does. She’s a fountain of words without a drop of meaning.
