Dexter and Hazel Obiso are the adorable couple you see pictured above. I just saw their Facebook ad.
It said you could attend a free info session. Start your own business in the digital space. They’ve got everything you need: products, systems, training, mentors.
And yes, it costs money.
There’s a video below the text with other individuals and couples smiling and saying nice things about how this experience has changed their lives for the better.
It’s all a little mysterious though.
Dexter was a software engineer before coming across this online business opportunity. Hazel worked in admissions. But using nothing more than a laptop, they were able to exit the rat race.
Now they travel and take selfies and apparently recruit others for a living.
To prove they’re good people though, they’re quick to mention how they sponsored three full-time missionaries for their church last year. And Hazel heads back to The Philippines as often as she can to help care for her aging parents.
Dexter and Hazel are living their dream: being amazing humans, giving back – all thanks to this unnamed internet business that pays for everything.
They can work from anywhere. As long as there’s WiFi, they’re open for business.
But I get the feeling, other than posting lifestyle content, not much “business” is being done.
Same goes for the other folks in the video. They all seem completely out of place. As if they wouldn’t know digital marketing from ditch digging.
Their testimonies are equally generic.
For example, there’s Chris, an ex-firefighter, and Karen, a former teacher.
“We’ve owned our online business for five years now,” Karen says, as her and Chris film in front of a pool, letting you know they’re on vacation and you’re not.
“When we started in 2017, we both worked full-time. And after two years, we both left our careers early and now we do this full-time. Unbelievable!”
“We really love being able to do this business from anywhere. Currently, we are poolside in Aruba. It doesn’t get much better than that,” she brags.
Another gal, Delali Afi, who used to work in IT and own a retail store, says:
“I’ve been in this business for over a year. It has allowed me to earn extra income without trading my time with family like I used to when we had our brick and mortar store.”
“I’ve been able to give more to our ministry [seeing a trend here?], which fulfills my dream of being a Kingdom financier,” she adds.
“And I have also become a better version of myself. I started this business to earn money so I could free myself and fulfill my God-given assignment,” she says.
Then there’s Don and Virj. Don was in air traffic operations, but not anymore.
“My wife joined this business in November of 2021,” he recalls, “and I joined soon after. We’ve replaced our incomes in our 9-to-5 jobs; and just one year is all it took. We’re now boss-free!”
“We want to earn more so we can help more people, especially our families. We want to travel and secure our retirement years – a comfortable golden years,” Don says.
And yeah, there’s a few other people in this video, saying more of the same, but I think you get the point.
Here’s what’ll happen when you click the ad.
- You’ll get taken to a page where you’ll be asked to enter your name and email to attend the free training.
- You’ll watch a webinar with other “leaders” at the company.
- They’ll encourage you to buy their starter pack thingie.
- It’ll be inexpensive and seem like a no-brainer.
- After that, there’ll be upsells.
And how you make money will be replicating what Dexter and Hazel and everyone above just did.
My concern, therefore, would be saturation. Like, is that sustainable?
