Become Viral founder Devon Canup can help you make 6-figures or more on YouTube. And you don’t need to show your face or even do the voiceovers if you don’t want to.
This year alone he’s started up 12 new channels. The more he does it, the better he gets at teaching.
But the number one reason most people don’t get results with YouTube is actually comical. It’s not because they don’t know some secret algorithm hack or even ’cause their thumbnails suck. Nope.
It’s ’cause they don’t upload videos consistently.
Go figure, right – you actually need videos to make money on a video platform. Weird.
“If you are not consistently uploading, let’s say, two videos a week,” Devon explains, “then you are gonna be blown outta the water and you’re not gonna be able to get results on YouTube.”
“So, priority number one, if you’re stuck, if you’re lost, if you’re thinking you don’t know what to do with your life, you don’t know how to get results on YouTube, then it’s a simple question.”
“Are you making YouTube videos? If not, stop everything and go make some videos. There’s like a thousand buttons inside YouTube Studio, there’s so many different things you can do. But that’s number one.”
“Are you getting videos out? It doesn’t matter if they’re pretty. Just get content out. Start the process.”
“And then you need data and inputs back to kind of see where you’re at and improve and keep doing better and better. It’s gonna be embarrassing when you get started. That’s okay.”
“That’s how it is for everybody when they start,” Devon admits. “Then once you get past that stage, this is where the rest of it kind of comes in.”
“Now you need to become a fanatic. That sounds too simple, but it really is that simple.”
“Just become obsessed with the destination that you want, which is financial success, the ability to quit your job, right? So have that in your head, always, when you’re making decisions.”
“But now, how do you get people to care about what you make and get ’em to watch your videos?”
Let’s take a step back.
You want money, right? In order to make money with YouTube, ya gotta get views. So how do you get views? You make stuff people wanna watch.
That’s the top-down approach.
So say you wanna make $10,000 a month off of YouTube. That’s roughly 3 million views a month, give or take. Awesome.
And that breaks down to about 100,000 views a day, right?
So start asking yourself: what kind of videos deserve 100,000 views in the niche you’re in? Well, go check out your top competitors. What are they doing? Now go model ’em.
“And that is it,” Devon says bluntly. “Focus every single day, now that you have the consistent production going, figure out what you need to be doing to make similar videos to the top performing ones you’ve researched.”
“Figure out what they [your competitors] have that you don’t have, that you need to improve on, and what they don’t have that you have that you need to get rid of, inside of your videos.”
“And if you are doing an automated YouTube channel or a faceless YouTube channel, make sure your team is doing this for you.”
If not, you gotta either retrain ’em or let ’em go.
Everyone you’re paying to produce these videos has to be an asset, not a liability. They should be continually growing, improving, communicating, responding well to feedback.
If that’s not the case, clean house and go spend as much time as you need to to put the right people in place.
That’s what it boils down to though. Are you getting videos out regularly? And if so, are they the right type of videos? When you can answer yes to both those questions, you’ll win with YouTube.
