Cody Sperber founded Clever Investor in 2010. He was on a mission to create the best real estate investing education out there.
And it had to be fun. They wanted to break the mold. Give people a refreshingly different alternative to the old guru courses that often left out huge chunks of information.
Easier said than done. They nearly crashed and burned their first year in business.
“I was a real estate investor,” Cody said. “I had never run an education company before.”
Read on for my Clever Investor review.
“But we were just so passionate about bringing this new style of education to life that we just kept at it,” Cody continued.
“Then in 2012 we launched our flagship training program called The Fast Track Profit System.”
“We made it super cinematic, full of characters and crazy scenes, packed with information, and people absolutely loved it. They loved this fun, interactive way of learning. What we called edutainment.”
“And, that’s when we knew we were on to something,” Cody reminisced.
Over the next few years, Clever Investor would evolve into a bonafide force in the real estate e-learning industry.
- They began developing cutting-edge tools and software to further assist their students.
- Offered different coaching and mentoring packages.
- Rolled out seminars and hands-on workshops.
- Even done-with-you and done-for-you dealmaking.
The only thing growing faster than the Clever Investor team was their list of success stories.
Clever Investor reviews are piling up on Google: there’s now 103 of ’em… with an overall average of 4.7 out of 5 stars.
“Love all the content and education that Clever Investor provides,” wrote Tom Crawford.
“I have bought a few different items through them and each one was loaded with valuable information,” he added.
“Would highly recommend them for anyone looking to get more information on real estate investing,” his review concluded.
Over on the Better Business Bureau, Clever Investor has a perfect A+ rating with only nine complaints.
David W. had this to say on his BBB review: “Clever Investor is unlike any other real estate investing community out there.”
“The programs they provide are second to none and the knowledge gained from the mastermind group and in person events are game changing,” he continued.
“There are hours upon hours of different trainings that not only help in real estate but also in everyday life and sales.”
“If you are brand new to real estate or even if it’s your full-time job, you will definitely learn a lot from the Clever Investor team,” he ended with.
Okay, but what about negative reviews?
I did come across a pretty bad complaint on Reviewopedia.
A mom had written about how her son, who was in college at the time, spent $22,000 to get personal mentoring from Clever Investor.
Of course, the mentor wasn’t even Cody, but some random dude in Chicago. Her son got two phone calls a month for six months with this guy.
On these calls, they discussed only basic real estate investing information and her son was constantly being upsold.
Worse, despite following up on almost 100 leads, her son never did a single deal. Yeouch.
Still, the general consensus is that Clever Investor is legit.
To be in the game for this many years, to sell so many different products and services, to have thousands of customers, and only a handful of negative reviews?
I mean, statistically speaking, that’s exceptional.
That said, I’d like to see them tone down their ads, make fewer offers, and do away with the super high-ticket stuff.
Even if it was the exception and not the rule, you can’t charge someone $22 grand and get them no results. That’s unacceptable.
