Audiobook Income Academy is a course by twin brothers Christian and Rasmus Mikkelsen. It’s since been rebranded to AI Publishing Academy.
They teach you a new and improved way to make money on Amazon: not by selling physical products but by publishing audiobooks.
There are three main advantages.
One, nowhere near the startup costs you’d have with FBA.
Two, you do the work once, get paid royalties for life.
And three, almost no one knows about this which makes it much less competitive.
Read on for my Mikkelsen twins review.
Rasmus and Christian were lazy bums after high school.
They got fired from one dead-end job after the next. Smoked a lot of weed. Had no direction.
They ended up moving back in with their parents in New Jersey, had a heart-to-heart, decided it was time to make something of themselves, enrolled in community college.
They took it serious, got straight As.
On the side, they began looking for ways to make money online. Tried dropshipping and a few other things. Audiobooks was the one thing that took off.
So they doubled down on that.
The process was simple:
- Pick a hot niche.
- Hire a ghostwriter to write a short eBook on that topic.
- Pay a voice over actor to narrate it.
- Get someone on Fiverr to make cover art for it.
- Upload it to Audible (which is owned by Amazon).
- Optimize it so that people would find it when they searched for audiobooks on that particular subject.
- Get sales.
- Get reviews.
- Get more sales.
- Run it back.
- Then go explore the world while passive income trickles in.
It worked well for a while. The Mikkelsen twins went from $1,000 a month to $10,000 a month in under a year.
They had audiobooks on diets, recipes, workouts, programming, studying, all sorts of stuff.
But then Christian got greedy.
He translated one of his top-selling audiobooks into different languages in an attempt to squeeze more profit from it.
Unfortunately, it was poorly done. The translated audiobooks were essentially gibberish.
One too many quality strikes later, they found themselves banned from the platform.
Just like that, their self publishing business had gone to zero.
Now what? Move back in with mom and dad? No way. They couldn’t let that happen.
Out of desperation, the Mikkelsen twins started a YouTube channel and began sharing their experiences with audiobooks.
As their following grew, so did the demand for a blueprint. People wanted to know how they, too, could make passive income outsourcing audiobooks.
Rasmus and Christian answered that call and created Audiobook Income Academy.
It’s a step-by-step video course with coaching calls and a private support community.
The cost is $1,997.
They have a 180-day profit guarantee.
Basically, if you do everything they tell you to do and don’t make at least $5,000 in six months, they’ll refund every penny plus give you an extra $1,000 just for wasting your time.
They have lots of positive reviews on their sales page, but the rest of the internet isn’t so sure.
Some say it’s wrong to sell the system when you no longer do it yourself.
Others call out the Mikkelsen twins for their marketing. They say they make it sound quicker, easier, and cheaper than it really is.
For instance, by the time you pay a decent ghostwriter, a narrator, and a graphics person, you could easily be looking at $1,000 or more to produce each audiobook.
Which isn’t much more affordable than a physical products business after all.
What do I think?
I think Christian and Rasmus have criminally misrepresented this opportunity.
