Beehiiv Review

Beehiiv Twitter

Beehiiv is the Amazon of newsletters. Faster, easier, cheaper, and they’ve got everything you need. Why use anything else?

Click my partner link to start your free 30 day trial.

When you sign up, they’ll ask you a few questions and turn your answers into a squeeze page you can begin using immediately to build your list.

With no tweaking whatsoever, it’ll look and convert better than half the garbage you see online.

You’ll go, “Oh, damn, these guys get it.”

Sad part is, people typically pay big bucks for their squeeze pages. They buy themes and templates and get gouged by designers.

And for what?

A cluttered page that annoys everyone? A call to action as appealing as having a catheter shoved up your pee hole? And the page took a lifetime to load. And on mobile, the text shrinks to a size that even an eagle could hardly see. And the formatting looks like it’s been through a blender.

But not with Beehiiv, bro.

Right outta the box, their squeeze pages slurp up emails like miso soup.

I guess it’s not surprising when they’re optimized for conversions by the same guys and gals who founded Morning Brew. (Their newsletter got acquired for $75 million. All cash.)

But yeah. These Beehiiv “sign up for my newsletter” pages load quick and look great on all devices.

And you can go in and tweak the fonts and colors and whatnot in their Design Lab, which is so user-friendly, your momma’s momma could probably figure it out.

Writing the actual emails is just as slick. Make ’em look however you want. From super polished to bare bones, and everything in between. Add images, videos, memes, GIFs, buttons, links, headings, bullet points, quizzes, polls – anything you can think of.

Point, click. Drag, drop. Type away. Hit enter. You literally couldn’t mess it up if you tried.

Each email can be sent live, in real time, or queued up to be sent out automatically according to the rules you set. “Fire off this email as soon as someone opts in, and then send ’em this one the next day at 9 a.m. their time,” for example.

Standard stuff for a newsletter platform, sure, but again, it’s the ease of use that sets Beehiiv apart. Setting up autoresponders elsewhere ends with you wrapped in a shiny foil blanket, shivering, still in shock, while paramedics tend to you.

Beehiiv FAQs

After the free 30 day trial, how much does it cost?

  • LAUNCH (up to 2,500 subscribers) costs $0.
  • GROW (up to 10,000 subscribers) costs $49/mo or $504/yr.
  • SCALE (up to 100,000 subscribers) costs $99/mo or $1,008/yr.

And before you ask, no, there’s no coupon code or promo code.

Which plan do I recommend?

SCALE because it comes with other goodies like built in ways to grow and monetize your list, AI to assist with writing, better analytics, and priority support. And paying annually saves you about 15%. So if you can swing it, I’d do that.

Do they make it hard to cancel?

Nope, not at all. They don’t bury it or make you open a support ticket like a lot of these other email marketing companies do. It’s right there, front and center – “Cancel my account” – and boom, about three clicks later, you’ll never be billed again. No shenanigans.

Aren’t all Beehiiv reviews biased?

Absolutely. It’s either a Beehiiv affiliate, like me, jonesing for a commission; or a Beehiiv competitor trying to make an interception. But you’re not dumb. I think you can tell who’s being real and who’s coming at ya with that used car salesman energy. Also, that’s why there’s a free 30 day trial. So you can get in there and dink around and decide for yourself, right?

Is there anything I don’t like about Beehiiv?

Their website builder. It’s fine for the average person, but it’s not ideal for hardcore bloggers like myself. And no, it’s not because their SEO sucks. Surprisingly, their SEO’s great. It’s their layout that irks me. Too restrictive. I can’t make the home page or individual posts look exactly how I want ’em to look. So that’s why you’re reading this on a WordPress blog and not a Beehiiv site. But hey, if your only goal is to build your list and you don’t plan on doing much with the website – maybe just teaser newsletter content or publishing old newsletters once they’re already sent? Beehiiv’s fine for that.

Beehiiv vs Substack?

If you wanna be limited in what you can do, build someone else’s brand, and give up a percentage of all future profits, choose Substack. Me, I’ll be propped up on a zillion pillows in the middle of a king-sized bed, firing off emails powered by Beehiiv, thank you very much.

Beehiiv vs ConvertKit?

Emails and landing pages look corny and outdated on ConvertKit. And don’t get me started on their maze of a backend. If you appreciate beauty and simplicity, Beehiiv gets the nod.

Beehiiv vs Mailchimp?

Mailchimp is the stomping ground for spammy affiliates peddling get-rich-quick schemes and miracle weight loss potions. Worried about email deliverability? That makes two of us. I call Beehiiv, by mercy rule, thus saving Mailchimp from further humiliation.

Are there any suitable Beehiiv alternatives?

What, do I gotta scream myself hoarse over thumping beats in a dark club for you to hear me? Beehiiv is goated.

What’s the bottom line?

Beehiiv’s hotter than a campfire in a burning down house in a subdivision of Hell. As long as you send good emails, you can make money with Beehiiv.
